Assistive Technology

Rehabilitation Technology applies technologies, engineering methodologies, and scientific principles to substitute for functional losses or to supplement and enhance funcitional limitations imposed by disablity. Rehabilitation technology includes devices, aids, and enhancements for the elimination of barriers encountered by individuals with disabilities.

The use of assistive technology is mandated by the 1986 amendments to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Public Law 99-506)
